Academic Advising

Who is my Academic Adviser?

Find your adviser: in MySail, under My Details, click on the blue Adviser link.

How can I contact my Academic Adviser? Connect with us during an appointment, chat, or email:

  1. Schedule an in-person or virtual appointment (instructions): http://oakland.trac.cloud
  2. Connect with us through SECS Chat! Our academic advisers will be available to answer your questions on the Google Chat from 11 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. You might be wondering when classes begin for the next semester, or the last day to withdraw from a class, or how to find a tutor. Any question is a good question.

To chat with an adviser during these times via Google chat:
    • Sign-in to your OU email
    • Along the left side, click the chat icon
    • At the top, click the New Chat icon
    • In the search box of the pop-up window, type '[email protected]' and click on the name below.
    • A text box will pop up at the right of your screen - ask us anything!

This service is best utilized when students are able to stay active in the chat until there is a resolution to their question.

  3. Email your Academic Adviser
    1. Sarah Konrad - [email protected]
    2. Ariana Abbott - [email protected]

Meet the Advisers

CLICK HERE TO NOMINATE YOUR ADVISER!

Has your academic adviser had an impact on you? Have they played a role in cultivating your success and wellbeing? Please consider nominating them for an Academic Advising Excellence Award, given annually to an academic adviser who has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to students. Nominations may be submitted through the short online form. This is a wonderful way to thank them and help promote a culture of advising excellence at OU!

Our Hours

We are open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and close for lunch from 12:00 p.m. to 1 p.m.

Drop In Times

Drop-ins are brief interactions for quick general questions. They are not a substitute for required advising, intended to cover full-year/semester course scheduling, or in-depth discussion of degree requirements. Students who have questions that are beyond the scope of a drop-in will be scheduled an advising appointment with their assigned adviser.

Drop-in times are Monday - Friday, 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Can't meet in person during these times, but still have a quick question? Join us on Google Chat at the same time. Check how to connect on Google Chat under "How can I contact my Academic Adviser" above.
